and Shemeber king of Zeboiim,

and the king of Bela
the same is Zoar. |

to the Siddim valley
which is the Salt Sea. |

Twelve years
they served Chedorlaomer,
and (in) the thirteenth year
they rebelled. |

came Chedorlaomer
and the kings that were with him,
and struck the Rephaim
in Ashteroth-Karnaim,
and the Zuzim in Ham,
and the Emim
in Shaveh-Kiriathaim, |

- this is Kadesh -
and struck
all the country of the Amalekites,
and also the Amorites,
that lived in Hazazon-Tamar. |

Now the Siddim valley
(had many) slime (bitumen) pits;
and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled,
and they fell there;
and the survivors
fled to the mountain. |

And they took
all the goods
of Sodom and Gomorrah,
and all their food
and went on. |

And they took Lot
and his goods,
Abram's brother's son,
and went on;
and he (Lot) lived in Sodom. |

And then a refugee (from the battle) came
and told Abram the Hebrew
- who was living
by the terebinths of Mamre the Amorite,
brother of Eshcol,
and brother of Aner;
who were
allied to Abram. |
ויבא הפליט
ויגד לאברם העברי
והוא שכן
באלני ממרא האמרי
אחי אשכל
ואחי ענר

And (when) Abram heard
that his brother (nephew) was a captive,
he led out
his trained men,
born in his house,
- three hundred and eighteen -
and pursued (the kings) up to Dan. |

And he divided (his forces) against them
by night,
he and his servants,
and struck them,
and chased them up to Hobah,
which is to the left of Damascus. |

And he brought back
all the goods,
and also his brother (nephew) Lot
and brought back his goods
and also the women,
and the people. |

And the king of Sodom went out
to meet him,
after his return
from the battle against Chedorlaomer
and the kings that were with him,
at the Shaveh valley
- also (called) the King's Vale. |
ויצא מלך סדם
לקראתו
אחרי שובו
מהכות את כדרלעמר
ואת המלכים אשר אתו
אל עמק שוה

And Melchizedek king of Salem
brought out bread and wine,
he was priest
to G-d the Most High. |
ומלכי צדק מלך שלם

And he blessed him,
and said:
Blessed be Abram
of G-d Most High,
Maker of heaven and earth. |
ויברכהו
ויאמר

And blessed be G-d the Most High
who has delivered your enemies
into your hand.
And he gave him a tenth of all. |
וברוך אל עליון
אשר מגן צריך

And the king of Sodom said to Abram:
give me the people,
and take the goods for yourself. |

to the king of Sodom:
I have lifted up my hand
to the Lord,
G-d Most High,
Maker of heaven and earth, |

that (not even) a thread
or (anything else) even a shoe lace,
will I take
from all that you have;
so that you cannot say:
I have made Abram rich; |

מכל אשר לך
ולא תאמר

that which the young men ate,
and the portion of the men
who went with me,
Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre,
they will take their portion.
