4 Commentaries רביעי (Start of fourth aliyah) אלה תולדות השמים והארץ These are the generations of the heaven and the earth בהבראם when they were created, ה' זעירא (the hai is small - see Rashi) ביום in the day עשות יהוה אלהים (that) the Lord G-d made ארץ ושמים earth and heaven. 5 Commentaries וכל שיח השדה And every shrub of the field טרם יהיה בארץ was not yet in the earth וכל עשב השדה and every herb of the field טרם יצמח had not yet sprung up, כי לא המטיר יהוה אלהים for the Lord G-d had not caused it to rain על הארץ upon the earth, ואדם אין and (there was) not a man לעבד את האדמה to till the ground. 15 Commentaries ויקח יהוה אלהים And the Lord G-d took את האדם the man וינחהו and put him בגן עדן into the garden of Eden לעבדה ולשמרה to work it and to preserve it. 20 Commentaries ויקרא האדם שמות And the man gave names לכל הבהמה to all cattle, ולעוף השמים and to the fowl of the air; ולכל חית השדה and to every beast of the field; ולאדם but for Adam (lit.; the man) לא מצא there was not found עזר כנגדו a helper for him.
