 And it came to pass
when men began
to multiply
on the face of the earth,
and daughters were born to them, |

and the sons of G-d saw
the daughters of man
that they were fair;
and they took for themselves wives,
from whomever they chose. |

And the Lord said:
My spirit shall not abide in man
forever,
since he also is flesh,
therefore his days will be
a hundred and twenty years. |
ויאמר יהוה
לא ידון רוחי באדם
לעלם
בשגם הוא בשר
והיו ימיו
מאה ועשרים שנה |

The Nephilim
were in the earth
in those days,
and also after that,
when the sons of G-d came in
to the daughters of men,
and they bore (children) to them;
the same were the mighty men
that were of old
the men of renown.

And the Lord saw
that the evil of man was great
in the earth,
and that every creation
of the thoughts of his heart
only evil all the time. |

And the Lord repented
that He had made the man
on the earth,
and it saddened His heart. |

And the Lord said:
I will blot out the man
whom I have created
from the face of the earth;
from man
to beast,
to creeping thing,
and to (the) fowl of the heaven;
for I have repented
that I have made them. |

עד בהמה
עד רמש
ועד עוף השמים
כי נחמתי

But Noah found favour
in the eyes of the Lord.

(Noah - the second Portion in Genesis)
These are the generations of Noah.
Noah was a righteous and wholehearted man
in his generation;
Noah walked with G-d. |

And Noah had
three sons,
Shem, Ham, and Japheth. |
ויולד נח
שלשה בנים

And the earth was corrupt
before G-d,
and the earth was filled (with) violence. |
ותשחת הארץ
לפני האלהים
ותמלא הארץ חמס |

And G-d saw the earth
and behold, it was corrupt,
for all flesh had corrupted
their way
upon the earth.

And G-d said to Noah:
The end of all flesh
comes before Me,
for the earth is filled (with) violence
through them;
and, behold, I will destroy them
with the earth. |
ויאמר אלהים לנח

כי מלאה הארץ חמס
מפניהם
והנני משחיתם
את הארץ |

Make for yourself
an ark of gopher wood,
rooms
you shall make (in) the ark,
and (put) pitch (on) it
inside and outside (cover) with pitch. |
עשה לך
תבת עצי גפר
קנים
תעשה את התבה
וכפרת אתה
מבית ומחוץ בכפר |

And this is
how you shalt make it.
Three hundred cubits
the length of the ark,
fifty cubits
its' breadth,
and thirty cubits
its' height. |

A light
you shall make for the ark,
and to a cubit
you shall finish it
upwards;
and the door of the ark
you will put in its' side,
lower,
second,
and third (stories)
you shall make it. |

And behold, I am bringing
the flood of waters
upon the earth,
to destroy all flesh,
which has in it the breath of life,
from under heaven;
every thing that is on the earth
shall perish. |

כל אשר בארץ

But I will establish
My covenant with you,
and you shall come into the ark,
you, and your sons,
and your wife,
and your sons' wives
with you. |
והקמתי
את בריתי אתך
ובאת אל התבה
אתה ובניך
ואשתך
ונשי בניך

And of every living thing
of all flesh,
two of every kind
you shall bring into the ark,
to keep (them) alive with you;
they shall be male and female. |
ומכל החי
מכל בשר

תביא אל התבה
להחית אתך
זכר ונקבה יהיו |

| 20 |
From each kind of fowl,
and from each kind of cattle,
from every (thing that) creeps on the ground
of each kind;
two of every kind
shall come to you
to (be saved) stay alive. |

And you, take for yourself
from all foodstuffs
that are edible,
and gather (it) to you;
and it shall be for you and for them

And Noah did so;
according to all that G-d commanded him,
so he did. |
