2 Commentaries ומוראכם And the fear of you וחתכם and the dread of you יהיה"" shall be על כל חית הארץ upon every beast of the earth, ועל כל עוף השמים and upon every fowl of the air בכל אשר תרמש האדמה and upon all that moves on the ground, ובכל דגי הים and upon all the fishes of the sea; בידכם נתנו into your hand are they given. 11 Commentaries והקמתי And I will establish את בריתי אתכם My covenant with you ולא יכרת כל בשר עוד neither shall all flesh be cut off any more ממי המבול by the waters of the flood; ולא יהיה עוד neither shall there be any more מבול a flood לשחת הארץ to destroy the earth. 12 Commentaries ויאמר אלהים And G-d said: זאת אות הברית This (is) the sign of the covenant אשר אני נתן which I make ביני וביניכם between Me and you, ובין כל נפש חיה and between every living creature אשר אתכם that is with you, לדרת עולם for perpetual generations. 15 Commentaries וזכרתי את בריתי that I will remember My covenant אשר ביני וביניכם which (is) between Me and you, ובין כל נפש חיה and between every living creature בכל בשר of all flesh; ולא יהיה עוד המים and the waters shall no more become למבול a flood לשחת כל בשר to destroy all flesh. that I will remember My covenant וזכרתי את בריתי which (is) between Me and you אשר ביני וביניכם and between every living creature ובין כל נפש חיה of all flesh בכל בשר and the waters shall no more become ולא יהיה עוד המים a flood למבול to destroy all flesh לשחת כל בשר טו
16 Commentaries והיתה הקשת בענן And the bow shall be in the cloud, וראיתיה and I will look upon it, לזכר to remember ברית עולם the everlasting covenant בין אלהים between G-d ובין כל נפש חיה and between every living creature בכל בשר of all flesh אשר על הארץ that (is) upon the earth. 18 Commentaries ששי (Start of sixth aliyah) ויהיו בני נח And the sons of Noah were, היצאים מן התבה those that went out from the ark, שם וחם ויפת Shem, and Ham, and Japheth; וחם הוא אבי כנען and Ham is the father of Canaan. (Start of sixth aliyah) ששי And the sons of Noah were ויהיו בני נח those that went out from the ark היצאים מן התבה Shem, and Ham, and Japheth שם וחם ויפת and Ham is the father of Canaan וחם הוא אבי כנען יח
19 Commentaries שלשה אלה These three בני נח (were) the sons of Noah; ומאלה and from these נפצה כל הארץ was the whole earth populated. These three שלשה אלה were) the sons of Noah) בני נח and from these ומאלה was the whole earth populated נפצה כל הארץ יט
20 Commentaries ויחל נח איש האדמה And Noah the (lit. 'man of the land') farmer began ויטע כרם and planted a vine-yard. And Noah the (lit. 'man of the land') farmer began ויחל נח איש האדמה and planted a vine-yard ויטע כרם כ
21 Commentaries וישת מן היין And he drank from the wine, וישכר and became drunk; ויתגל and he was (uncovered) exposed בתוך אהלה within his tent. And he drank from the wine וישת מן היין and became drunk וישכר and he was (uncovered) exposed ויתגל within his tent בתוך אהלה כא
22 Commentaries וירא חם אבי כנען And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw את ערות אביו the nakedness of his father, ויגד and told לשני אחיו to his two brothers בחוץ (who were) outside (the tent). 23 Commentaries ויקח שם ויפת And Shem and Japheth took את השמלה the garment, וישימו and put it על שכם שניהם upon both of their shoulders, וילכו אחרנית and went backwards, ויכסו and covered את ערות אביהם the nakedness of their father; ופניהם אחרנית and they were facing the rear, וערות אביהם and their father's nakedness לא ראו they did not see. 25 Commentaries ויאמר And he said: ארור כנען Cursed (is) Canaan: עבד עבדים A servant of servants יהיה לאחיו he will be to his brothers. And he said ויאמר Cursed (is) Canaan ארור כנען A servant of servants עבד עבדים he will be to his brothers יהיה לאחיו כה
